Gaddafi last Hour

In this cartoon titled Gaddafi's last hour, we see Muammar in an hour glass and he is losing his image into skulls and turning into dust. this artist is clearly against the Libya president and is trying to infer that he is at his last straw and that sooner or later Muammar will fall and tarnish. this cartoon relates to current political activities because the U.S is currently aiding the rebels who are trying to overthrow the ruler by giving them weapon and helping them advance in this on going struggle for power in Libya. The irony is that since Muammar is said to be responsible for deaths of many innocent people the bones that are at the bottom of the hour glass represents all the souls he have take for nothing.

Since The Giffords Shooting

The title of this cartoon is ' since the Gifford shooting". In the picture we see a little girl telling an older female that the stretch of candle that goes beyond the horizon is memorial for every one that has been shot since the congresswomen. to understand this cartoon one must know that after this deadly shooting congress wanted to have new laws regarding guns and control on a Federal level. this artist on the other hand is trying to say why is it after millions of people have lost there lives or had their life changed due to gun violence, congress is just now trying to do something after one of their own was the victim. this cartoon relates to our time period and what we lean in class because we are learning how laws are made and also on a bigger scale there are more weapons in the street then ever, even weapons that you should only see on a battlefield.

Blind Eye

This political cartoon is titled "Blind Eye". In the cartoon there is a man who to me represents a security agent that have binoculars that are labeled with homegrown terrorist and the other one Muslims. Because you can only see the reflection of his eye on the part that say Muslim you can infer that the artist, is trying to say that special agencies that deal with terrorist are not targeting terrorist as a whole but stereotyping Muslims. This cartoon relates to the world now because supposedly the war on Iraq and Afghanistan all started when Muslim terrorist flew airplanes into the WTC. after that there was tensions directed towards Muslims and a lot of people thought of them as terrorist.

This cartoon is titled " Still Standing" by Cardow, the Ottowa citizen. The title fits because it is trying to represent the reign of the Libyan leader over his country. The bodies that Muammar Gaddafi is standing on is a symbol that represents the innocent lives that were lost because of his own personal gains. Gaddafi is blamed for taking many lives in terroristic acts that can be dated back into the 70's. he has never faced any judge or prison time for his actions.The hat and the clothes represents his leadership. The message of this cartoon is to show that the cartoonist feels that Gaddafi is mocking everyone against him. That he can do what eve he want even with the world watching and he will still triumph in his wrong doings.In the current times that we live in this uprise in Libya is major political unrest because of its connection with the world's oil production. This relates to our discussion in class with the stock market and how government operates because the U.S will find a way to meddle in this situation.
